“Symmetry is what we see at a glance; based on the fact that there is no reason for any difference.” (Blaise Pascal)
Danny Jacobson is a resident artist in Melbourne, Australia. Danny began to demonstrate his artistic vocation from childhood, and over the years he kept his passion until university, where he studied Industrial Design. His career has distinguished himself in this field, and has led him to cover important roles such as that of Exhibition Designer at the National Gallery in Victoria. However, now he dedicates himself full time to art, which declines in a personal and visually appealing key, which combines the taste for chromatic harmony with a precise geometric system, in which the echoes of industrial design can be glimpsed. The work presented for De.Mo, Series 6 # 7, perfectly summarises this dualism, and represents a moment of great artistic maturity for Danny Jacobson, who finds his ideal dimension in abstract art with a geometric layout. The work is painted with acrylic paint on stretched cotton, and appears as a sinuous tangle of coloured bands, built on a skilful chromatic combination. The artist seems to seek a balance of shapes, symmetries and colours, creating a complex yet harmonious whole. Danny also manages to give the composition a sense of depth: the bands are superimposed, overlapping each other creating new shades of colour. The mathematical approach is therefore the privileged means to give life to a technically elaborate work: the geometric scheme, the study of colours and the processing of multilayer acrylics demonstrate an absolute mastery of materials and arithmetic principles. But the works of Danny Jacobson are not limited to this. They imply a unique and refined artistic vision, driven by an innate attitude for the creation of something unique. A mathematical language that encodes the very essence of the soul.
